This Heron wallpaper, designed by Mr. & Mrs. Vintage from Holland, is a nod to the popular use of feathers throughout history for decoration and self-adornment, stemming from the human desire to appear more attractive to the opposite sex.

These elegant and exotic feathers were not only used in decorative headwear, but also became a statement of social status and fashion in the 18th and 19th centuries, thanks to the feather boa and its influence on the international plumage trade. Interestingly, feathers were also incorporated into the erotic performances of cabaret dancers, further cementing their popularity.

This wallpaper offers a modern take on the ancient practice of using feathers as a symbol of wealth and high societal standing.
